Sunflower and Native Blossom

Presenting: Sunflower and Native Blossom
Click the links above to see them on my deviantart page or check them out below.

Equiptment used: PC, free fractal program "Apophysis," and Adobe Photoshop CS5

You don't have to use CS5 to mix these images, it's just the most up to date photoshop the school has. I enjoy using the software here because i'll probably never be able to buy all this stuff on my own.

After creating the desired fractal and its sister fractals, render each one out as a .png and then compile them in photoshop. Use different composite settings on each layer for different looks and effects. Sometimes i slap a soft blur on one of the inner layers. Inverting them in photoshop is fun, too. Pretty much mess with the options until you get something you like. I've developed a style, so i've been going deeper into the detail of my particular look as of late, but anything goes!

Enjoy.

Sunflower
 Native Blossom

These are sister pieces in that i used a similar equation to create them. The first, Sunflower, is made up of three sister images. The second, Native Blossom, only consists of one image but is related to the other three that make up Sunflower. Sometimes when i discover a really great equation i create multiple sister images to sort of 'document' its epicness. As seen here :)

The Lord is STILL Good! - Post Zombie Filmshoot

Directing Lady Killer was great fun and a great challenge. It was the biggest cast and crew i've worked with... so far. This experience really opened my eyes to how much i love directing. Though Haunted was a great experience as well, everything was on a smaller scale. It took a couple tries, but now i know for sure that i have seen the light - and it is good.

Check out Haunted and Lady Killer on my YouTube page.

Here are some photos taken during production of Lady Killer, courtesy of Bradly Wisler (photographer) and Nina Prozzo (camera owner).

That's me on the left. I'm so happy :) "Nasty beautiful!" is what i believe i was thinking.

After looking at these shots i wish we'd done it again with me on this side of the fence, but at the end of a project you always wish you'd have done something differently or better. (Nice shots, Brad!)

Some facts about the shoot - this all went down in 3.5 hours. Yeah. Lots of things went wrong in the beginning, but after praying over the zombies and jumping headfirst into the largest part of the production, the evening smoothed out nicely.

The ladies gave me high energy - much appreciated! I didn't have to stop and say, "We have to do that again; you weren't convincing enough." No, no, they were plenty convincing. Just look at Adam's face (the main character) and you can tell right away that some of the girls weren't acting O_O Just kidding.

Special thanks to Chris Reese for getting the tennis court lights on, Gina Chambers for supplying the clothes, and Campus Safety for not charging me for that bloody mess in the bathroom. We cleaned it up pretty quick. Thankfully, fake blood is easy to wipe off tile.

Public release date for Lady Killer: 12/13/11

The Lord is Good! - Pre Zombie Filmshoot

Sooo i forgot to pick up the pocket dolly in the apple building yesterday. I fretted a little today about having to call campus safety to open the doors for me because they always give me a hard time and then they take forever to open the doors and i had a pretty booked schedule. It just added stress to the film day, you know?

As i'm sitting in the computer lab, stuck working here for 2 hours as i think about filming this evening, i see a campus safety officer walk by the door. I listen to the sound of his keys hanging off his belt and tuck that little detail away in the back of my mind. Ten minutes later, i hear that sound again. I jump up out of my chair and catch him at the door as he walks by. We dialogue a bit and he kindly unlocks the apple building for me!

The young officers are much more pleasant than the older ones. I really do pray that young man doesn't become an old stickler like the others.

The Lord is good! Zombies are gonna happen tonight and i will get it on film! I will pass my digital film production class and all will be well. Take a big breath... and exhale. ZOMBIES!

(PS. imagine me saying that last word like Crocker from the Fairly Odd Parents saying FAIRIES!)

Peace out.
