Lady Killer - Today is the Day!

Here it is... THE LINK to Lady Killer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTMWy-rHF5o&list=UUz9k732aCId7074LurzEKpQ&feature=plcp

Enjoy. Honestly, enjoy. I was going for a double dose of cognitive dissonance. Let me know how you like it :)

This is just the beginning. I will continue to direct and produce films. Lady Killer really pushed me to be the best at directing and editing - a big challenge, but worth it! So, so worth it. Ah, i'm in amazement; i should stop typing.

I digress. Thank you for your support! Please watch the video and comment :) If i'll be anything, i'll be original! I hope to bring a special flavor to video and film. Yeah.

Sunflower and Native Blossom

Presenting: Sunflower and Native Blossom
Click the links above to see them on my deviantart page or check them out below.

Equiptment used: PC, free fractal program "Apophysis," and Adobe Photoshop CS5

You don't have to use CS5 to mix these images, it's just the most up to date photoshop the school has. I enjoy using the software here because i'll probably never be able to buy all this stuff on my own.

After creating the desired fractal and its sister fractals, render each one out as a .png and then compile them in photoshop. Use different composite settings on each layer for different looks and effects. Sometimes i slap a soft blur on one of the inner layers. Inverting them in photoshop is fun, too. Pretty much mess with the options until you get something you like. I've developed a style, so i've been going deeper into the detail of my particular look as of late, but anything goes!

Enjoy.

Sunflower
 Native Blossom

These are sister pieces in that i used a similar equation to create them. The first, Sunflower, is made up of three sister images. The second, Native Blossom, only consists of one image but is related to the other three that make up Sunflower. Sometimes when i discover a really great equation i create multiple sister images to sort of 'document' its epicness. As seen here :)

Peace.

The Lord is STILL Good! - Post Zombie Filmshoot

Directing Lady Killer was great fun and a great challenge. It was the biggest cast and crew i've worked with... so far. This experience really opened my eyes to how much i love directing. Though Haunted was a great experience as well, everything was on a smaller scale. It took a couple tries, but now i know for sure that i have seen the light - and it is good.

Check out Haunted and Lady Killer on my YouTube page.

Here are some photos taken during production of Lady Killer, courtesy of Bradly Wisler (photographer) and Nina Prozzo (camera owner).

That's me on the left. I'm so happy :) "Nasty beautiful!" is what i believe i was thinking.

After looking at these shots i wish we'd done it again with me on this side of the fence, but at the end of a project you always wish you'd have done something differently or better. (Nice shots, Brad!)

Some facts about the shoot - this all went down in 3.5 hours. Yeah. Lots of things went wrong in the beginning, but after praying over the zombies and jumping headfirst into the largest part of the production, the evening smoothed out nicely.

The ladies gave me high energy - much appreciated! I didn't have to stop and say, "We have to do that again; you weren't convincing enough." No, no, they were plenty convincing. Just look at Adam's face (the main character) and you can tell right away that some of the girls weren't acting O_O Just kidding.

Special thanks to Chris Reese for getting the tennis court lights on, Gina Chambers for supplying the clothes, and Campus Safety for not charging me for that bloody mess in the bathroom. We cleaned it up pretty quick. Thankfully, fake blood is easy to wipe off tile.

Public release date for Lady Killer: 12/13/11

Also, here's a shout-out and recap of the night from a cast member and fellow YouTuber: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_seVhGCdH00&feature=channel_video_title
Thanks Bev!

The Lord is Good! - Pre Zombie Filmshoot

Sooo i forgot to pick up the pocket dolly in the apple building yesterday. I fretted a little today about having to call campus safety to open the doors for me because they always give me a hard time and then they take forever to open the doors and i had a pretty booked schedule. It just added stress to the film day, you know?

As i'm sitting in the computer lab, stuck working here for 2 hours as i think about filming this evening, i see a campus safety officer walk by the door. I listen to the sound of his keys hanging off his belt and tuck that little detail away in the back of my mind. Ten minutes later, i hear that sound again. I jump up out of my chair and catch him at the door as he walks by. We dialogue a bit and he kindly unlocks the apple building for me!

The young officers are much more pleasant than the older ones. I really do pray that young man doesn't become an old stickler like the others.

The Lord is good! Zombies are gonna happen tonight and i will get it on film! I will pass my digital film production class and all will be well. Take a big breath... and exhale. ZOMBIES!

(PS. imagine me saying that last word like Crocker from the Fairly Odd Parents saying FAIRIES!)

Peace out.

Hands 1

Reference images found on deviantart.com. Search 'hand stock' and pull from the pool. All referenced images are available to view on my profile's 'favorites' in the 'hands' folder. Profile name: radonvalley

Oh yeah, that random hand with no 'traced' pair is from the Hana Kimi manga. I didn't keep the trace of that image because it wasn't useful - the main image was lineart enough to draw from.

Peace.

Mary/Jerik Sketches

Some randomness, but mostly i'm trying to flesh out Mary and Jerik from Radon Valley.

Of course just click on them to see the original size :)

Peace.

Oh yeah! And i'm mostly using the manga "Hana Kimi" for reference material. Just FYI.

Verse of the... Week?

“Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:20-21 NIV

So, this has been the verse of the day for... three days now. Is that important? Even if it's a glitch, it's made me really pause and think about this verse for *pause for emphasis* more than a day. Hey! Imagine that.

So listen to advice. Accept dicipline. If you do these things, at the end of your life or time or the trial you will be counted as one of the wise. But know this: you may have plans in your heart, and these plans may be all well and good, but it is the Lord's purpose that will prevail. If you a truly wise, you will be seeking His will and making it your own.

Peace.

Contemptuous rose,
Set apart from
Flowerbeds
For you
Choke
And poke
Your neighbors;
And thus you live
Derisive alone.

Nothing like a little poetry at 9:00 on a Tuesday morning O_o
But it's good because i actually had structure to the poem this time! XD
Praise.

Accountability Calender

So i've got this calender were i keep track of days where i eat sugary or fatty foods. After a really crappy weekend i sighed and stated the obvious - my calender was gonna be all black Xs.

My roomie, being the sweetest person ever, put smiley faces on those days instead... but she used red pen. This is our story:

Sano and Me

Hey! This one doesn't suck! :D

Ok, so i traced a piece of this image: http://www.mangareader.net/279-19732-10/hana-kimi/chapter-92.html
Then i used my mostly-traced Sano and made a similar feeling character (me, heh...) without tracing anything :)

I think it turned out pretty well. But now i wanna keep drawing and not do my midterm :[blah]

Another without reference:

Heh... needs a reference XD oh well, i'm improving at least :)

Will Be Important

Should i have capitalized "be" in the title? Probably not. Oh well.

I've been working on learning how to draw - a bit manga, a bit cartoon, overall enough to get the point across - in order to illustrate this: Radon Valley

What i've discovered is that i have a toon hand. Radon Valley, though, is a more serious novel. So i've gotta get my act together.

This is what i've been able to do without a reference image so far:

It's not bad. It's not good, but it's not bad. (Plus... i think i'll avoid coloring my renditions of Radon Valley until i've had more practice...)

A little toony, strongly influenced by manga, but i think i'm on the right path.

What's difficult is... well, everything. I've noticed drawing something every day has been more helpful to me than drawing one good thing every now and then. The more comfortable i become with my hand, the more things it'll be able to do.

Is this image important now? No. Is Radon Valley making a splash yet? Of course not. Will it be important later? Definitely.

I plan to rock the world with Radon Valley. Rock. The. World. And in order to do that, it's got to be drawn. It's good in book form, but it must be visual. God be with me ._.

Such is Homework

Here's a little sketch. It's mostly funny because it happened just like that. It's also funny because i enjoy comics in general :)

So without further ado, i present to you "My Convo with Ben."

Peace.

Learning How to Draw

Ah! it's the worst thing ever! i'm too old to have such crappy drawing skills as these!!! D: It would have been okay in elementary school, but MAN do i stink at this stuff :(

Why am i trying to draw, you ask? Oh, well that's a rant i've gone over about a million times in my short little life so far, but it's a rant worth-while.

Radon Valley is my first complete novel. It's great, it's epic, but it needs to be drawn. It's good as a book, but it needs to be visual. As a nobody, though, i need an artist to partner with me out of sheer adventure! Yeah, like i've found one of those lying around. So i've sent emails and contact info and all this stuff for years now. YEARS! Sigh. So my friend said to draw it myself. I said "i've tired!" She said "try again."

So here i am, trying again...

...

Yes.

I Could Drop You...

But I won't.

I had this thought the other day (the other day meaning like a month ago). It was really for a story i've been writing about two people who are undercover of sorts (not like spies, but just people with secrets about their identity). They know about each other and test each other's ability to stay hidden in society. One person (X) takes it a little too far, nearly revealing who the other person (Y) really is. In response, Y (who is stronger and taller) grabs X by the shirt and pushes him over the railing of a bridge but doesn't let go.

The lake below isn't too far down, but fear grips the throat of X - the fear of falling. Y looks at X with serious eyes and says, "I could drop you, but i won't." Y sets X back on his feet and walks away. X, who hadn't considered God to be real let alone have character or personality, suddenly understands what Christians mean by 'the fear of the Lord.'

So the thought here is that the Lord could drop us but He won't. Why won't He? Because He is above reproach, He is of strong character, He is both understanding and righteous. We fear the Lord because of what He can do. It's respect more than 'i'm so scared' kind of fear. The fear you feel when standing before a person of power. In my case, a rightfully angry parent who could punish me and i know i deserve it. Or, more up-to-date, a boss or leader figure who is disappointed in my productivity, or lack thereof.

Anyway, that's the thought. I'll publish it one day, so don't steal! :P The reason i haven't had a public blog like this before is because i don't want people to steal ideas, but i want to share my thoughts to perhaps inspire people in life or in art. Be inspired! And love the Lord :)

Day in the Rain

Today there was a 50% chance of rain. Translation: the guys on campus carrying around long umbrellas had a 50% chance of not looking like needless Gene Kellys or Donald O'Connors. (Don't get the reference? Wikipeida "Singin' in the Rain" and be enlightened.) Another translation: the unprepared people (like me) had a 50% chance of looking stupid and wet, thus snarling at the dry Gene Kellys.

So i got wet. Not a big deal. What is a big deal to some people, though, is getting their hair wet. I kid you not, i saw a 35-40 year old woman walk out of a building holding a genetics textbook over her head to protect her hair. Call me old-fashioned, call me a prude, call me whatever you like, but putting your hair on a higher level of importance than any textbook is a shame.

Here's where the devil and angel on my shoulders battle over my plane of thought. "What a rude, undeserving person. Why would she care that much about her hair... blah blah blah." Yeah, my devil is kind of a nag. Then the angel says, "Well, i don't know that lady. I don't know her circumstances or how she was raised, what she thinks about genetics or textbooks in general. Do i treat my books better? Yes. Is it that important to rant about? Not really."

My angel is interesting. My good side isn't stuck up. It's laid back and chill, doesn't accuse people of anything. It's an observer that takes life with a grain of salt and choses other paths with a calm, level head.

My devil, on the other hand, is flat-out annoying. And i usually side with the devil at first. It's quick, but not always correct. It's the first thought that pops into my head, but not usually the most logical or sensitive one. If i could draw, i would draw my angel in jeans and a hoodie and my devil in a pencil skirt, blouse, and unnecessary rectangle glasses. My angel would be leaned up against a wall or sitting back in a chair. My devil would be blogging about the annoyance of the rain... Oh, crap.
